Calgary Regional Trail Riders

PLEASE NOTE:  in person meetings are suspended until further notice.

The purpose of the Calgary Regional Trail Riders Club (CRTR) is to increase enjoyment, improve safety and further educate its members in relation to equine activities. To this end, CRTR activities will include but not be limited to: organizing day and weekend rides; organizing the entry and participation of members as a group in parades; and sponsoring and promoting participation in horse-related seminars and conferences. In order to make a contribution to the general community, the CRTR may undertake fund raising activities for one or more registered charities.

February 23, 2021.

In 2021, we have tentatively planned educational clinics with the inclusion of Jim Anderson coaching horsemanship and obstacles, a cow sorting clinic at O'Reilly's O'Rena, a ranch horse versatility clinic with Lindy Barron, a truck trailer driving clinic for hauling your rig with expertise, and several others which have yet to be confirmed.  These will be posted as soon as available.

In addition, our social activities may be very limited but we have some gymkhanas planned as long as restrictions allow, possibly a spring ride with lunch, a Vance Wyatt roping clinic (no horses involved), and cowboy challenges at Lausen Indoor Arena.  We hope that by Christmas time we can gather for a Christmas party.

Day trail rides this year to places like Sandy McNabb, Mesa Butte, Little Elbow, and West Bragg will likely begin sometime in May.

Parades are on hold for this year with the probability that Calgary Stampede parade will not go on, and the cancellation of other small town parades.

While we have a casino scheduled for March 24 and 25, with key positions filled, we must wait to see if the AB government will open up casinos in time for ours.

The club generally plans to meet at 7:00 PM on the last Tuesday of the month, January, March, May, and September at the Equi-Plex Lounge at Spruce Meadows.  At Spruce Meadows, the closest parking lot is parking lot 7 indicated on the map below. On the last Tuesday in November, generally, the AGM is held at an announced location.  Please inquire about the next meeting by emailing to: info@calgaryregionaltrailriders.com to confirm meeting date and location.  Show up any time and see what we are about! We are a non-profit, breed independent club. Everyone is welcome to join the club!
